As a matter of interest I post here what yesterday is mentioned in a discussion about Crowley and which I hadn't heard before. There is evidence that Crosley indeed was a Freemason ( among other things ofciurse ). He is initiated in Anglo-Saxon Loge No343 in Paris.

Tue, April 28, 2009 - 2:32 PMSort of. Crowley took his degrees at a Blue Lodge that was considered "irregular" and "clandestine" by the UGLE. Not having his Masonic credentials recognised in the majority of the English speaking world was a great frustration for Crowley.
While it's well documented he did go through the Blue Lodge (albeit irregularly), I am somewhat skeptical of some of his claims to the "higher degrees."
It's not really important one way or another. His comprehension of the mysteries of Freemasonry was insightful enough to rewrite them until they eventually became what we now know as the OTO degrees. While the two Orders are very different, it's difficult not to see the similarities. -
